Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan: New “emir” is elected in concern with the death of Takhir Yuldashev
August 17, 2010
Furqon.com, considered as the official website of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), reported the death of emir (head) Takhir Yuldashev. Therefore, for the first time IMU confirmed the death of its leader, almost one year after mass media learned this from his body guard and supporter.
In this concern, Furqon.com published text and audio files as well as photos of alive and dead Yuldashev.
In his statement about the death of Mokhammed Tokhir “Foruk” (the name of Takhir Yuldashev, referred by his militants), posted at the above-mentioned website, new IMU emir Usman Adil said Takhir Yuldashev was killed by an American scout aircraft missile strike on 6th day of Ramadan, 1430 (August 27, 2009) when mujahidins completed “zuhr” midday namaz. Several teammates of Yuldashev were also killed.
“The major reason why this information was not disseminated within the year was the fact that mujahidins were fighting with the gloves off in Afghanistan and especially Pakistan against the enemies of Islam”, says the new emir. “Since anti-Islam troops totally blocked our region the battles were especially violent”.
“In concern with this grievous event and based on our Shariah Jihad norms IMU leadership decided to keep this information in secret”, the new IMU leader noted.
