The following is an official statement from Sudan’s Justice and Equality Movement (JEM).

JEM Release 63 new POWs to ICRC

Early today, JEM completed handing over of 63 Prisoners of War to the ICRC. These POWs were captured in the battle of Umsaouna, last week, May 19th.

10 of the Prisoners were handed over by the ICRC to local leaders and relatives while 53 including 23 injured soldiers were flown to government bases.

This transfer brings the number of POWs that JEM handed over to GoS through ICRC within one week to 107.

Names of released POWs will be issued in our Arabic version of statement.
