Thai Soldier Killed on Thai-Burma Border

A Thai soldier was shot dead by Burmese government soldiers in Mae Sam Leap village north of Mae Sariang in Mae Hong Son Province on Wednesday, according to sources on the Thai-Burma border.

The letter to Lt-Gen Ye Myint, Naypyitaw’s front man for the Border Guard Force (BGF) program, on 11 May by the Shan State Army (SSA) North’s Chief of Staff Pang Fa contained a detailed chronicle of the Burma Army’s truce violations, according to informed sources from the Sino-Burma border.

Six junta soldiers defect to Arakan militia
Narinjara, 18 May

Six Burmese soldiers from Light Battalion 232 based in Ray Chan Byin Village in Sittwe Township, Arakan, surrendered to the Arakan Liberation Army (ALA) with weapons near the Indian border after they killed their captain and deserted their outpost.
